Our meatbirds are allowed to free range after about 2 weeks old. Usually we place them in the wood with the electic netting around and let them work on an area then move them again.
This year we are going to try the chicken tractors behind the cows up in the field (if we find the time to build the tractors).
We are expecting chicks april the 12th.

This clip was introduced to me by Shirley from Sullbar Farm. It is worth a watch.
THE OWL WHICH ATE MANY OF OUR MEAT BIRDS THE FALL OF 2008
HE OR SHE WAS CAUGHT IN OUR PULLET RUN. SOMEHOW IT MANAGED TO GET INSIDE THE CHICKEN WIRE COVERING, NEVER THE LESS IT HAS BEEN WELL FED ALL SUMMER AND FALL. WE LET IT GO ABOUT 30 MILES FROM OUR FARM, BUT I THINK IT FOUND ITS WAY HOME PRETTY SOON AFTER THAT.
